WEEKLY GARBAGE DAY
Monday is garbage and recycling day and all items should be at the curb by 7 am. Garbage can be put out the night before and empty containers need to be brought in (hidden from front view) by noon on Tuesday.
Trash will not be picked up on the following holidays; New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The City of Manor and Allied Waste Services renegotiated their agreement which includes the Travis County MUD 2/ShadowGlen subdivision. A change was necessary to 1) keep the rate you pay from increasing, 2) provide for a safer collection system, and 3) continue to provide a high level of service to you. The following took effect January 18, 2010.
Allied Waste will only collect waste that is inside the container with the container lid closed. Do not over fill the container. To get the most out of your cart volume please crush, fold, or compact items before placing them in the cart. Brush must be placed completely inside the cart for the regular weekly waste collection.
Recycle containers are available free of charge, maximum one per residence.
Recycle services currently include:
--Plastic beverage and laundry product bottles/jugs (#1 or #2 on bottom)
--Cardboard (must be flattened/bundled to not exceed 3’ x 3’ wide by 6” thick)
Bulk/brush collection services are provided twice (2) per year. The bulk and brush collection normally occurs on the first week of March and the first week of September (but may occur on a later week of these months). Total volume collected per semi-annual collection event is limited to not more than four cubic yards per residence (approximately equal to four 95 gallon carts). Examples of acceptable items that will be taken by Allied Waste during the semi-annual bulk and brush collection are as follows:
--Common Household Furniture
**Refrigerators, freezers, and/or air conditioning units will be taken only if the appliance is tagged by a certified technician stating that the item is free of any coolant. (TIP: when buying a new appliance negotiate for the seller to remove your old one.)
Brush collection must fit the following dimensions:
--No more than four (4) feet in length
--No more than three (3) inches in diameter
--No more than 35 lbs in weight per bundle
Below are items that are not acceptable for bulk pickup collection:
--Metal or steel posts or pipes exceeding three feet in length
--Chemicals, batteries, explosives, flammable liquids
--Cement bags or tiles
--Mirrors or glass
--Televisions or monitors
--Sofa beds or bath tubs
--Paints or tires
--Cinder blocks or bricks
--Logs, stumps, unbundled brush
